County seeking applicants for county manager

Posted

Archuleta County continues to accept applicants for the position of county manager, Commissioner Veronica Medina explains in a communication to The SUN.

According to the county website, the county manager position was posted on May 23.

Medina states that it will remain open for 30 days, after which the county will begin to conduct interviews of applicants.

The position description indicates a salary range of between $117,060 and $163,872 for the position depending on experience, in addition to a variety of benefits.

Medina states that the county has received five applicants so far.

According to an offer of employment letter provided by the county and signed by Interim County Manager Jack Harper, Harper will receive an annual salary of $136,787.82 in addition to benefits while he serves as interim county manager.

The letter does not indicate an expected time frame for how long Harper might serve as interim manager, but County Attorney Todd Weaver stated at a May 14 special meeting of the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners that an interim manager position would not need to be posted or advertised for unless it lasts more than nine months.
