Arboles Independence Day Parade slated for Saturday

Posted

The Annual Independence Day Parade in Arboles will be held on Saturday, June 29.

The parade is sponsored by the TARA Historical Society at Navajo Lake.

Parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. behind the Piedra Peak Store on Willard Way.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will travel in front of the Piedra Peak Store and head down on County Road 982 toward Navajo Lake. It takes a turn on Milton Way and then winds around to pass by the Piedra Peak Store again. After it connects to Milton Lane again, it will continue on to the TARA Community Center at 333 Milton Lane.

The parade will end at the TARA Community Center, where a fundraiser will be held.

A bake sale and a barbecue will be offered to all attendees and parade participants. Grass-fed ground beef has been donated, which will be served directly after the parade. Local bakers will donate delicious baked goods to purchase. All proceeds will benefit the TARA Community Center.

At this time, we have 30 parade entries including royalty from the Ute and Jicarilla tribes and also from the Spanish Fiesta. Los Mitotitos will provide music along the route and at the end of the parade.

There will be three prizes awarded for the parade entries — first, second and third places. Judges will be placed at the old Arboles Store. The parade will pass by them twice. Winners of the parade will be announced shortly after the parade at the TARA Community Center.
