‘Aging Faithfully’ book study for women to start Sept. 9

According to market research, the median age of women is rising. Following the upward trend is the makeup and cosmetic surgery industries which have surpassed a combined value of $674 billion. Yet, neither of these industries help women embrace the beauty of aging.

“Aging Faithfully: The Holy Invitation to Growing Older,” written by Alice Fryling, offers a perspective shift where aging is seen as a “holy invitation from God to grow.”

The 10th book she has written, readers are offered tools to navigate the journey of aging through retirement, lifestyle changes and new limitations.

Fryling encourages men and women to “embrace the final season of their life, as is God’s plan.”

During a phone interview with Fryling from her Monument, Colo., home, she shared that she wrote “Aging Faithfully” as a how-to book for those questioning how spirituality could affect their view on aging.

The assumption is “that as we work our way through the loss of productivity due to aging, we can enter into a deeper relationship with God and experience more spiritual fruitfulness,” she said.

The Pagosa Catholic Women’s Fellowship is leading a seven-week book study of “Aging Faithfully.” All Christian women, regardless of religious affiliation, are invited to participate.

The women’s fellowship offers unconditional sharing that aims to bring women closer to Jesus Christ.

The book study will start on Monday, Sept. 9, at Pope John Paul II Catholic Church, located at 353 S. Pagosa Blvd.

Rosary is at 9 a.m., followed by the book study and fellowship from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come for all or as you wish.

The book is available online.
