The Town of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County would like you to join us Saturday, Oct. 28, for a ghoulish day of fun for the whole family.

The Halloween Hootenanny is a huge Halloween party returning for the second year with even more events added, including trick-or-treating and kids activities, a witch and warlocks hot air balloon fly-in, a witch-costumed paddle boarding event, a 5k fun run/walk, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, multiple costume contests and a huge fireworks display.

Schedule

Following is the schedule for the day’s festive events:

• 7:30 a.m.: Witches and Warlocks Fly in Hot Air Balloon Ride. Witches and warlocks get a free hot air balloon ride. Come costumed and ready to have a “bewitching” time over Pagosa Springs. All participants must register in advance by contacting Marissa at (970) 946-4450.

• 9:30 a.m.: Monster Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk. The Monster Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk will be followed by a costume contest with prizes. Trick or treat goodie bags will be given to the first 100 registered participants. The race will start/finish near the pickleball courts on the south side of Yamaguchi Park. Register at https://runsignup.com/Race/CO/PagosaSprings/HalloweenHootenannyMonsterDash5k.

• 11 a.m.: Witches on Water Paddleboarding Event at Lake Pagosa. Gather your coven and tell them not to forget their magical paddleboards. Meet up at the Lake Pagosa dam off of Cloud Cap and Park avenue. No registration is necessary. Costumes are encouraged. Come ready to have a “bewitching” time on the lake. Life vests/personal flotation devices required to participate.

• 1 to 3 p.m.: Annual Trick-or-Treating and Kid’s Carnival. This annual event is sponsored by the Town of Pagosa Springs Parks and Recreation Department and includes loads of fun and candy for kids. Stop by and visit several stops along the way and collect candy and treats at Yamaguchi Park. Come have a hootin’ good time trick or treating at Yamaguchi Park. Costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory. The costume contest for kids will be at 2 p.m.

• 1 to 3 p.m.: Costumed Pickleball Play organized by the Pagosa Pickleball Club. Join in on the pickleball craze and get free candy. Don your favorite Halloween garb and play pickleball on the new outdoor courts at Yamaguchi Park.

• 1 to 7 p.m.: Live music with Nu Bass Theory and Tomorrows Bad Seeds. We’ll be featuring two fun bands this year. Nu Bass Theory is a Colorado-based duo playing “funky beats.” Tomorrows Bad Seeds is the musical embodiment of surf and street culture from Los Angeles — a perfect blend of hip hop, punk, reggae, rock and soul.

• 1 to 7 p.m.: Food trucks and beer garden. Several local food trucks will be offering their delicious food options and an assortment of beverages.

• 7 p.m.: Fireworks at Yamaguchi Park. We are excited to light up the sky to top off the Halloween Hootenanny. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
