Celebrate the mothers in your life by attending Aspire’s Walk for Moms event on Saturday, May 20, at Yamaguchi Park.

Kids can enjoy games, a bounce house and prizes. Participants can register online for free at https://aspirepagosa.org or just show up. The theme this year is “Celebrate Moms through the Decades!” Get creative and dress up from the 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s or ‘90s.

Check-in/registration and a free breakfast will start at 8:30 a.m. at Yamaguchi Park. The walk starts at 9 a.m. and the awards ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. Various stations and fun pit stops will be set up along the path for supporters to play games and get information. All registrants will receive a “goodie bag” and walkers can also earn additional prizes based on how much you raise such as a Kelty blanket and backpack insulated cooler.

The Walk for Moms keeps our quality prenatal clinic affordable for all as well as helps us provide parenting education and classes for babies and toddlers.

Recently, we had a couple come in and take several classes. Both are first-time parents, so they have jumped in to every educational option we provide. The dad reported these classes have made a huge difference for him in feeling prepared to parent. Furthermore, the classes have helped him improve in developing appropriate expectations for his child as well as increased empathy and understanding for his wife and child.

One of our goals is to help all children thrive physically, socially and emotionally during the first few years of life. Preparing parents not only with the physical aspects of parenting, but to also care for their children socially and emotionally, is a huge step toward reaching that goal.
