Jeanette Pike loves books, to the tune of at least 6,000 in her home. As a lifetime member of Friends of the Library, she was happy to be the recipient of a free book from the Friends committee.
Each month, the Friends committee draws a name from the Friends membership and the winner selects a book to call their own. Pike chose “The Annotated Alice” by Martin Gardner.
“It’s a beautiful book and it’s been a long time since I read Alice. I’m interested in the annotated part,” Pike explained.
Recently retired as an occupational therapist, Pike’s new calling is the Riverwalk Naturalist program. In addition to leading tours, she coordinates the program, trains tour guides and schedules volunteers. As a weaver, Pike finds designs and colors in nature to incorporate into her weaving projects. In spite of a very busy schedule, she also makes time for tai chi and qigong.
