Ruby Sisson Memorial Library staff hosted a tacos luncheon on April 25 to thank its volunteers during National Volunteer Week. Meg Wempe, library director (in front) likes to quote author Sherry Anderson, who said, “Volunteers don’t get paid – not because they are worthless but because they are priceless.” Library volunteers help with many important tasks, including shelving, program prep, garden maintenance and more. In 2022 they contributed 1,575 hours valued at $49,628, a huge amount of money, especially for a small library like ours. As part of the thank-you event, Josie Snow, assistant director, created a fun “Jeopardy!” competition focusing on books, authors and library trivia for guests to play.
