“Blue Horses” was a beautiful table created by Two Old Crows in 2022 for The Library Affair. This year’s event is set for April 15.

It’s time to put on your Ruby slippers in honor of the Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library’s The Library Affair, a gala fundraising event on April 15 at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. The evening offers a unique bidding opportunity to take home beautiful and creative table settings serving up to eight people. The table designs will be based on themes from books ranging from children’s to adult literature. The winning bidders will collect the complete content of the tables, including china, stemware, silverware, napkins, tablecloths and centerpieces.

In addition to the fabulous table settings, each table offers its own unique add-on benefits included with your purchase. Examples include a day of guided fly-fishing on the Lindner El Rancho Pinoso in the Blanco Basin, a spa experience; lift tickets for Wolf Creek, a catered picnic at a beautiful setting on the shores of the Blanco River and many other incredible bonus opportunities when you win your bid. Be sure to check the complete list of offerings at each table.

“Each table is being designed by teams of ‘celebrity’ decorators, specially chosen for their incredible artistic and creative skills” said chairperson Jann Pitcher. “The tables will carry out the theme of a selected book of their choosing. Some tables will be whimsical, others elegant, but all will be something wonderful to take home and enjoy.”

Beginning March 15, for a donation of $2 per vote, you will be able to vote online for your favorite table. The table that receives the most votes will be awarded the prestigious Pagosa Pulitzer Prize, created by ceramic artist Jim Lutomski. The five tables with the highest number of online votes will go into a live auction at the gala event. The table that receives the highest bid, silent or live, at the event on April 15 will win the Ruby Award, created by glass artist Mary Kurt-Mason.

Tickets for this evening of fun are $50, with proceeds going towards construction costs for the expansion of the library. Delicious hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by Todd Stevens and the Pagosa Springs High School culinary class, and a cash bar will offer beer and wine. The evening will be enhanced by the beautiful music of acoustic guitarist Steve Blechschmidt.

Tickets and online voting will be made available by going to the library’s website at www.pagosalibrary.org beginning March 15. You may also purchase your tickets in person at the Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library (check or cash only).

Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to offer your support for our expanding library and to enjoy a fabulous evening with friends.
