Since its inception, the Winter Outdoor Learning Fund (WOLF) has been busy fostering outdoor awareness in Southwestern Colorado.

Most of WOLF’s involvement has been in the form of providing scholarships for Avalanche 1 and Wilderness First Aid courses. Many of its board members spend the winter months as ski patrollers, making sure that the Wolf Creek Ski Area is safe for all winter enthusiasts. They know the importance of being knowledgeable and prepared in the snowy back country and want to pass that along to our community.

They also enjoy all the outdoor recreation that skiing has to offer. That’s why on Wednesday, Jan. 11, WOLF will host a fundraiser at the Thingamajig Theater at 2313 Eagle Drive. They will be showing Teton Gravity Research’s 2022 film, “Magic Hour.” This new film is not so much about a particular time of day as it is a culmination of powerful moments in some of the most beautiful, wild places on the planet.

The doors to Thingamajig Theater open at 6 p.m. and the viewing begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and beer from Riff Raff Brewing Company will be available for purchase, as well. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit WOLF scholarship recipients.
