Eugene C. Stringer Jr., Dec. 16. Gene was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in September 1929 to Mary and Eugene C. Stringer.

Upon graduation from Holy Name High School in Cleveland, Ohio, he continued his education at Ohio University and Baylor University. He joined the Air Force ROTC in 1948 to become an officer and an aviator.

He was an Air Force pilot from 1951-1957. After his time in the service, he became a stockbroker with the New York Stock Exchange until he retired in 1994.

He married the love of his life, Doe, in 1959. In 1977, they moved their family to Pueblo West, Colo., then moved again in 2000 to Pagosa Springs, where Gene and Doe built their dream home, often called the Beach House in the mountains.

Gene’s passion was flying, fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing and tennis. One of his favorite pastimes was telling stories. Most were true, with bits of exaggeration about his lifetime adventures. He will be remembered for his big smile, blue eyes and large heart.

Gene is survived by his five children: Dana Stringer LeBeau, Eugene Stringer III, Gordon Stringer, Douglas Stringer and Roger Maclyn Stringer; along with 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Doe Stringer; his granddaughter Lindsay LeBeau; his parents; and siblings.

The family is planning a memorial party in the spring to celebrate Gene’s life. If you would like to be notified of the details, please contact Dana at danadolphin10@gmail.com.
