The time is finally here to join the Pagosa Springs Community Choir at its annual Christmas concerts.

The community choir will be presenting its “Sing We Now of Christmas” concerts this Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m.

The concerts will be held in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium and doors will open 30 minutes before each performance. The concerts are free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. The choir is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a receipt can be provided for your tax-deductible donation.

This year, the community choir is fundraising for the Pagosa Springs High School Music Department. If you have lived here for long, you know that the music department at the high school presents a very professional musical every spring.

This year the school would like to produce Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” but it is very expensive to purchase the licensing from Disney for this show. Thus, the community choir will be donating 35 percent of each night’s concert contributions to the high school music department to help raise funds to pay for the “Beauty and the Beast” production licensing.

Please keep in mind when you donate at this year’s choir concerts, you will be supporting the community choir, but you will also be supporting music education in our schools. And, as a bonus, you get to listen to beautiful Christmas choral music. It’s a win for us all.

Please join us this weekend for an enjoyable concert of Christmas favorites such as “Jingle Bells” and “Sleigh Ride.” In addition to the full choir, you will be treated to our jazz choir, which is a small ensemble that features Christmas songs set in jazz stylings.

We are looking forward to seeing you this Friday or Saturday evening at 7 p.m. or this Sunday at 4 p.m. Brighten your holiday season and join the community choir this weekend as we “Sing We Now of Christmas.”
