Pagosa Springs’ Ralph Maccarone, co-founder and volunteer of Who We Play For, was named this year’s winner of The NASCAR Foundation’s Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award on Thursday afternoon.
Maccarone was announced as the winner during an event in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The award recognizes NASCAR fans who are dedicated to providing resources and support to children.
Maccarone was one of four finalists for the 12th annual award, and as the winner, Maccarone’s organization will receive $100,000.
Voting to choose the winner began after the finalists were announced in mid-October.
