The 16th annual Mountain Chile Cha Cha will take place in Town Park rain or shine on Saturday, Sept. 24. The festival includes a morning trail race, a Mexican beer garden, a margarita contest and green chile cook-off and tasting, an all-day kids’ corner and fresh green chile roasted on-site.

Str8 Shot from New Mexico will be performing this year with live Latin music.

Str8 Shot is a New Mexico music/variety band based out of Bernalillo, N.M. The band was established in 2013 and has been quickly gaining popularity due to its unique style and ability to bring life to any venue with music ranging from some of the all-time favorite cover songs to forgotten music that has been given the Str8 Shot sound. The band propelled to new heights in 2015 with the release of its first CD, “El Primero.” The release has been very successful and continues to improve the group’s notoriety as one of the biggest up-and-coming bands on the New Mexico music scene. The band performed in more than 70 shows in 2016 and in some of the most prominent New Mexico music venues in the state and southwest.

In November 2015, Str8 Shot received a Quince Grandes de Nuevo Mexico Music award for its song “Te Amo Y Te Deseo.” This song and others on its “El Primero” CD have received substantial airplay in New Mexico and Colorado.

In January 2016, Str8 Shot was nominated for seven awards from the New Mexico Hispano Music Association, winning one award for Bilingual Song of the Year for “Bring It On Home (Traemelo).

Str8 Shot was honored and proud to receive its second Quince Grandes de Nuevo Mexico Music Award on Nov. 19, 2016, for “Para Que Vivo.” This song has been a favorite for Str8 Shot fans.

Str8 Shot released its second CD titled “Otro Trago” in August 2017. The band stayed true to its unique sound while trying to continue the tradition of New Mexico music.

We hope to see you dancing at the Cha Cha.
