Early spring brought bluebird skies to Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) and the San Juan Riverwalk. Early fall will be a different story. The GGP’s Breakfast with Balloons will bring a festive crowd to the amphitheater and the skies will be filled with hot air balloons on Saturday morning, Sept. 17. See you on the Riverwalk.

The Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) is reviving Breakfast with Balloons, a popular Pagosa Springs ColorFest celebration last seen in 2019. Breakfast with Balloons has always sold out, so get your tickets early.

Breakfast with Balloons on Sept. 17 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the GGP’s amphitheater on the San Juan Riverwalk is the best seat in town to view the mass ascension of hot air balloons during Pagosa Springs’ annual ColorFest weekend.

Guests of Breakfast with Balloons expect an extra special breakfast and 2022’s menu will not disappoint. The menu is being planned among outstanding local chefs and the GGP’s heritage cooking advocates. This year’s menu just might be the best ever. Of course, coffee and mimosas are offered and GGP’s mimosas always include a choke cherry option.

Cuatro Kruse and Future Folk will provide the perfect musical background for balloon watchers’ enjoyment. Cuatro’s inspiration produced GGP’s Open Mic nights this summer, so locals are familiar with the ingenious gifts of his Future Folk.

Balloonists often show off with stunts that amaze breakfast guests in the amphitheater. They might perform a splash and dash or two, or a near-miss tease low over the heads of guests. Cameras will be busy capturing the colors of so many balloons in the sky at one time, an unusual sight in Pagosa Springs.

Proceeds from Breakfast with Balloons benefit the continuing operations of the GGP, an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The service organization is volunteer- and donation-driven, and Breakfast with Balloons is GGP’s biggest fundraiser.

The GGP operates three dome greenhouses in Centennial Park on the downtown San Juan Riverwalk. All three greenhouses are operational and producing fresh, naturally grown vegetables for the Pagosa Springs community. The GGP demonstrates year-round agriculture using renewable geothermal and solar energy. The dynamic nonprofit teaches wise water use and environmental awareness with our valuable educational partners.

The GGP is a Colorado Gives affiliate, with a continuing good standing status as a Colorado charitable organization. Tax-deductible donations can be made through https://www.coloradogives.org/geothermalgreenhousepartnership. However, event tickets must be purchased through the GGP’s website, https://www.pagosagreen.org.

Tickets to the GGP’s Breakfast with Balloons fundraiser are $60 for adults and $30 for children 12 years old and younger. Get your tickets early at https://www.pagosagreen.org/breakfast-with-balloons-2022/. Online ticket buyers receive a wristband from volunteers at the entry gate. Paper tickets can be purchased downtown at the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce office and uptown at the Choke Cherry Tree. See you on the Riverwalk.
