Dahrl Jane Henley

Dahrl Jane Henley (Miller) passed from this life to the next with God on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at the age of 89.

Dahrl will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Robert (Bob) Henley; and her children, Karen (Greg) Lessman, Anne (Ed) Parker and John (Esther) Henley. She was the proud “Grandma” to her grandchildren, Gregory, Nicole, Zachary (Tish), Ryan (Sandra), Courteney, Emily, and Ian. She was also “G-ma” to her great grandchildren, Audreana, Dalton, Greyson, Calliope, Weston, and Alexios. Dahrl was a loving daughter to Lloyd and Ruth Miller, and Charlotte and Lyle Bordwell. She was the baby sister to Lee, Sue and Duke, and the big sister of Johnny. She cherished many nieces, nephews and dear friends throughout her life.

In her 41 years of service as a registered nurse, she held roles as a staff nurse, supervisor, manager and “mom” nurse for the many bumps, bruises and even broken bones of neighborhood children ... “Come to my house, my mom’s a nurse!” Her passion, sense of humor, dedication to her patients and strong commitment to make a difference in the lives of others remain vivid in the hearts of all who benefited from her care.

Her greatest gift, though, was in her humble life of faith. No act of kindness or task was too big or small for her to undertake. She was a volunteer in the Navy Relief Society, at the many schools her children attended, at Chimney Rock archaeological site, the Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library and was always an active member in her church communities. Her family will miss her big presence in their lives but rejoice knowing she is in peace and resting as the good and faithful servant she was.

To know her was to be loved by her. Dahrl was loved well in return by her family and countless friends, and she always made them feel welcomed when they visited her home. Dahrl spent her last 26 years in Pagosa Springs, where she never tired of the splendor of the mountains, the blessing of friendships, a vibrant faith community, and providing a home where her children and grandchildren enjoyed being together.

Please join Dahrl’s family in celebrating her life with a memorial Mass on Tuesday, June 21, at Pope John Paul II Catholic Church, 353 S. Pagosa Blvd. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. with interment and reception immediately following.

The family has requested that any remembrances in honor of Dahrl’s generous heart be made in the form of a contribution to your favorite charity.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors at Pagosa Springs Medical Center, Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice House for their compassionate and dignified care in the last years and days of her life.
