Simone Archier Mandle Merfeld Brown

Posted

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Simone Archier Mandle Merfeld Brown, after 99-1/2 years, has left us on May 6 from Encinitas, Calif.

Simon “Baboo” was born in Nice, France, where she was a ballerina as well performing at the Paris Opera.

Simone loved children, hers and others’, so she taught French to children in the Montessori school in New Rochelle, N.Y., and later to anyone at “La Ronde” in Vermont.

Some of her favorites were: the color blue, anemones, roses, gardening, yoga, contra-dancing, classical music, doing pottery, winning at bridge “if she had good cards” and, like her French mother, ice cream.

Simone outlived three husbands and her son, Craig, her brother and sister.

Simone was loved by so many. We cherish her exuberance, love and generosity.

There will be a celebration of life for Simone on July 16 in Dummerston, Vt.

Thank you, Pagosans, for your kindness to her.

We love you, Baboo, James, Diane, John and Zhena.
