Robert Lawrence Hill, part-time Pagosa resident, passed away March 9 in his home in Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his three sons: Matthew, Nathan and Aaron; five grandchildren: Madison, Ethan, Rachal, Riley and Nesta; and his brother, Don, and his wife, Paula, and their children: Andrew, Suzanne and Erin. The family had a celebration of life luncheon in Michigan.

Bob was born Oct. 27, 1944, in New York City. He graduated from Penn State, got his pilot’s license and made his first parachute jump all in the same year. After getting a master’s degree in computer science, he worked for Rockwell International as a systems analyst, he used to say, for a third of a century. Bob loved his family and that meant taking us on vacations and the favorites usually provided skiing, scuba diving or windsurfing. He also had a unique sense of humor that the family called “Bobisms.” After his retirement, when he signed on with Wilderness Journeys here in Pagosa as a raft and land tour guide, he could get the whole bus laughing with one of his “Bobisms.” He was at his best showing tourists the beauties of Pagosa Country.

We were blessed to have Bob in our lives and are looking forward to being reunited in Christ when it is our time to go.
