Margaret Ann (Peggy) Case passed away on April 19. She was born April 12, 1929, at the Pagosa Hotel on San Juan Street to Archibald and Bess Toner.

Peggy spent her early years working and playing on the family ranch in the Upper Piedra valley with her brother, Edward Toner, and cousin John Taylor.

She attended Debs Schoolhouse through the eighth grade. With plans for college, she needed to attend an accredited high school, so she boarded with a family friend and attended Durango High School. After graduating in 1947, Peggy attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins where she studied home economics and education, receiving her bachelor of science degree in 1951.

While square dancing the nights away, she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Case. They were married June 17, 1951, and spent the next 70 years together.

During those years, they lived in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota. Peggy was a stay-at-home mom, a volunteer for civic organizations, a 4-H leader, CSU Extension agent, gardener, rancher, devoted wife and loving mother. Peggy and Bob returned to the Upper Piedra ranch in 1979.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, brother and grandson, George Kyriacou.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Bob Case; daughter Robin (Ray) Ball; son Russell (Bernadette) Case; grandchildren Anna Ball, John Kyriacou, Susan Ball, Debra Harrop, Steve (Michelle) Ball, Adrienne Alcon, Janessa Alcon, Keryssa (Josh) Conely and Jared Case; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Women’s Legacy Fund. Please mail checks to Robin Ball at P.O. Box 4960, Pagosa Springs, CO 81157.

A celebration of life will be held May 7 at 10 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church in Pagosa Springs.
