Kimberly Ann “Kim” LaRose, of Norman, Okla., and a former resident of Pagosa Springs, passed away on April 7 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She lived with cancer for over five years and while that is what ultimately took her life, she had her sense of humor up until the end.

Born on Jan. 25, 1959, in Houston, Texas, Kimberly moved to Pagosa Springs in 1971 and graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 1977. A skilled waitress and bartender, she loved music, dancing and enjoying a night out. Kimberly had a genuine passion for having fun and living life to the fullest. She found joy in nature, animals, reading and movies, especially horror and sci-fi. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her daughter to be strong and capable, which she achieved through her constant example of selflessness, compassion and exceptional loyalty. The depth of Kimberly’s loyalty and love for her daughter and friends was unmatched and will be deeply missed. Kimberly is survived by her daughter, Ashley Angell, and her son-in-law, Brandon Brooker, as well as her siblings, Michael LaRose and Alecia LaRose. Kimberly was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sidney and Gloria LaRose. A memorial and celebration of life for Kimberly will be held at a future date, to be announced via Facebook. The family invites donations in Kimberly’s memory to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs.
