Hey, Pagosa, this summer, Curtains Up Pagosa (CUP) is proud to present “All Shook Up” as our summer show.

Auditions are Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23 by appointment, and April 29 and 30. Rehearsals will start at the beginning of May for the show, which will open June 30.

“All Shook Up” is a family-friendly show. It’s 1955 and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “Don’t Be Cruel.” This show is sure to be a hit you don’t want to miss.

If you are interested in auditioning, please prepare a one-minute monologue, and a one-minute vocal solo, and contact CUP Artistic Director Dale Scrivener to set up an appointment for auditions, or, if you have questions, feel free to reach out to him at director.curtainsup@gmail.com.

CUP also recently held a master class with New York actor Dan Hoy. At this masterclass, we had nine people who auditioned to be a part of the class.

Hoy worked with each one for 15-20 minutes and coached them through their prepared solos to help them become a better performance or be able to be used for a successful audition. This was a great time of learning. It was amazing to watch our local talent be able to grow in such a short amount of time.

That evening, Hoy presented a solo concert of musical theater, jazz and pop repertoire. Between his sets, the nine applicants performed their cliniced songs for the audience. Each student had a great transformation from start to finish of their prepared solos.
