Morgan Schaaf, a Pagosa Springs graduate and one of the 2015 girls’ basketball state champions, was awarded the 2022 Bill Rupp Award on March 27 at the annual Colorado Board Four Award Ceremony in Greeley, Colo. This award is given to the most promising new basketball official in the Greeley area with five or fewer years of experience. The criteria to win this award is an official who has an excellent attitude toward the game, demonstrated a high level of professionalism, a willingness to assist others and has the desire and potential to become an excellent official. Schaaf’s love for basketball started at a very young age. After graduating from Pagosa Springs High School in 2015, Schaaf played for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo. She then decided to continue her education in Greeley, Colo., at the University of Northern Colorado, where she still resides. Schaaf began officiating basketball games two years ago, and her dedication and hard work has been awarded.
