Steve Prunty

After fighting cancer for several years, long-time Pagosa resident Steve Prunty passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Jan. 21. He was 67 years young.

Raised in Louisiana, Steve was a dedicated Cajun cook, avid fisherman, local log home builder and skilled stone mason. He spent his last day on earth doing what he loved, laughing under a Colorado sky, ice fishing with friends and family on Echo Lake. It was a perfect day.

Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie Prunty; sons Christopher Borne and Shane Prunty; grandchildren Trevor, Sebastian, Evelyn, Savien and Olivia, as well as sisters Cheryl Seymour and Pam Rowdon.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor this summer at Navajo Lake; details to be announced at a later date. “So long, and thanks for all the fish.”
