Jeffrey ‘Travis’ Jones

July 5,1988-Jan. 12

Jeffrey “Travis” Jones was born on July 5, 1988, in Detroit, Mich. When he was still a young boy, he, along with his family, moved to Pagosa Springs, where he grew up loving the mountains and the great outdoors.

He loved to go camping, fishing, rock climbing, snowboarding, hiking and hunting. He was fascinated by fire from the time he was young and would go on to become a skilled wildland firefighter. At the age of 18, Travis joined the Army. He proudly served his country for four years and fought in Iraq. Travis was a very adventurous young man who traveled to many places, including Alaska to be a part of a commercial fishing operation, but he always came back to his mountain home and his family that he so loved.

Travis was passionate and intense when he got involved in projects, pouring himself into whatever he was involved with at the time. Because of his passion, he lived life large and on the edge. His family and friends knew him to be a man who would give you the shirt off of his back. He had an amazing heart and would do anything for the ones that he loved. Travis had the best smile and laugh that will always be remembered. Travis believed in God and one of his favorite verses from the Bible was Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Travis touched many lives and although his life ended on Jan. 12, the memories we all have of him will live in our hearts and minds forever. He will always be remembered with love and respect.

He is survived by his mother, Christine, and her husband, Joe; his father, Jeffrey Jones; sisters Jillian and her husband, Anthony Lucero; Patricia Jones; his brother, Josh Jones; and many other loved ones. We will all miss you, Travis.
