Wreaths Across America

Hill Top Cemetery is nearing its goal of having a wreath for each known veteran buried there. Hill Top Cemetery is among the network of approximately 2,800 cemeteries that participate in the Wreaths Across America program honoring and remembering our veterans.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach our children the value of freedom through the symbolism of a wreath. The second or third Saturday of each December is selected as National Wreath Day in a coordinated effort to distribute more than 1 million wreaths worldwide.

Greenmount and Crestview cemeteries in Durango, Ignacio East and West Cemetery, and Bayfield Cemetery are also participating cemeteries in the area.

The deadline for sponsoring $15 wreaths is Nov. 30 through various sponsoring groups. Visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/co0186P to sponsor through the Sarah Platt Decker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
