The FSFE — Food Coalition will be hosting a book club featuring “Closing the Food Gap: Resetting the Table in the Land of the Plenty,” by Mark Winne, Oct. 19-Nov. 16 in Pagosa Springs.

This book poses many questions about food access that aren’t typically part of the current conversation around food, like: “In a time of rising rates of both diabetes and obesity, what can we do to make healthier foods available for everyone?”

On Thursday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 3 p.m., Winne will present at the Community Conversation via Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83978862954) on the topic of “Closing the Food Gap.”

On Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m., we will host the kickoff for the book club where registrants can check out a copy of the book.

Subsequent sessions will be held in person and on Zoom each Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. through November.

The book club will culminate in a final discussion and book signing with the author on Nov. 16.

Community members are invited to contact the FSFE — Food Coalition to sign up to participate in the book club, which will be limited to the first 12 registrants. Additional community members will be put on a waiting list for a future book club.

Please sign up with the FSFE — Food Coalition by registering on the website at https://www.foodcoalition4archuleta.org/ no later than Oct. 15.

For those who don’t have access to online services, please call (417) 371-3227 to register.
