Archuleta County is currently accepting applications to join a Health District Investigative Committee.

The Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) has recently expressed interest in the possibility of forming its own health district within Archuleta County.

The county is currently a part of San Juan Basin Public Health, which has served both Archuleta and La Plata counties since 1948.

The BoCC has also considered the option of joining the Silver Thread Public Health District, which serves Hinsdale and Mineral counties.

Commissioner Ronnie Maez indicated during an interview that no action has been taken yet as to which option the county would like to take.

He explained that the county is waiting to see what information the committee will be able to come up with before deciding which option will be in the best interest for the county.

Anyone interested in applying for the committee can contact Paralegal Mary Helminski at (970) 264-8308 or mhelminski@archuletacounty.org, or Administrative Assistant Jamie Jones at (970) 264-8309 or jjones@archuletacounty.org.
