In an effort to provide a higher level of medical care to injured patients in the backcountry, the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office and Upper San Juan Search and Rescue have teamed up with Pagosa Springs Medical Center EMS to deliver a joint response to the patient location when safe to do so. The teams train annually to maintain situational awareness, increase responder safety, and to develop and refine new and ongoing protocols. Interagency relationship development is critical in providing a successful outcome for the mission.
