Pagosa Housing Partners will host HomesFund — an education, advisory and assistance nonprofit serving Archuleta County — at CommunityTalk on Feb. 10 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church on Lewis Street.

HomesFund’s focus is “building diverse and resilient communities by supporting the development of affordable housing programs, and empowering residents with the financial resources and educational tools to achieve homeownership in Southwest Colorado.”

Homeownership can seem like a dream, but preparing now can make all of the difference in navigating the process immediately or over the next several years.

The subjects to be discussed will include an overview of an in-depth class to be offered later this month. Topics include: understanding what is needed for homeownership, manage housing budgets, saving for a down payment, pros and cons of buying a home, understanding your credit score and how to improve it, mortgage opportunities and more.

HomesFund also offers free homeownership assessment and can help qualified homebuyers in Archuleta County with mortgage assistance of up to $19,000.

This is a program that can help you get on track to fulfilling your dream of homeownership, offer ways to help keep your home or simply learn new budgeting skills. This is also a great orientation for real estate agents to better understand mortgage assistance options for their clients.

The full education class will be an eight-hour, in-depth Homebuyer Education Class; the class is free and materials are only $15. The class will be offered twice over the next few months, once on Feb. 22 and again on April 4, here in Pagosa Springs. Contact HomesFund by phone at 259-1418 or research its website at homesfund.org.
