James Edward Klaproth II

2019/12/obit-klaproth-IMG_1042-194x300.jpgJames Edward Klaproth II, age 71, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., passed away peacefully at Fitzsimmons Veterans Home on Saturday, Nov. 30. He was surrounded by the love of his family as he battled dementia.

Born in San Diego, Calif., on June 5, 1948, the son of James Edward Klaproth and Mary Catherine (Gleason) Klaproth.

After graduating from Western High School, Anaheim, Calif., he enlisted in the Navy, where he studied electronics mechanics. He had a great love for music and especially loved playing the guitar. In addition, his hobbies included fishing, camping, photography, and tinkering with computers and electronics.

He leaves behind his wife, Marjorie; his son, Robert Klaproth; his daughter, Rebecca Gregg, and her husband, Allen; stepson Dan Dewey; four grandchildren: Anthony Hobbs, Jacob Gregg, Samantha Gregg and Katelyn Gregg; his sister, Candace Susan Clark; and brother Steven Charles Klaproth.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary, and also his stepson, Jeff.

A memorial service for James will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, Colo. A reception will follow from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A committal service will occur Thursday, Dec. 12, from 1:15 to 1:40 p.m. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, Colo.
