Using a magnificent blue spruce donated by Veterans For Veterans of Archuleta County, which had placed in last year’s Christmas Festival of Trees, Buck Frisbee (second from right) and Kevin Matyniak (second from left) volunteered time, equipment and manpower to set the Veterans Memorial Park’s first landscaping tree Tuesday, July 23. Frisbee had been taking care of the tree for seven months until arrangements could be made for its permanent location on the site. Others pictured are members of Frisbee’s crew. The Veterans Memorial Park is taking shape on Vista Boulevard, where Ole Glory flies 24/7 and is visible from the highway. The public is invited to check out the site and enjoy the rudimentary trail system, which was begun with the assistance of Pagosa Springs eighth-graders just this spring.
