Pagosa Springs Elementary School fourth-grade students were taught the importance of a drug-free lifestyle by personnel from the Red Ribbon Counter-drug Team from the Colorado Army National Guard and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. As an added bonus, the students were treated to a tour of a Blackhawk helicopter flown in from Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora. Red Ribbon Week has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice in remembrance of Enrique Camarena, a former DEA special agent who was abducted and murdered while on assignment in Mexico.
