2019/03/obit-lucero-IMG_9926-207x300.jpgLarry Paul Lucero, 46, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 16, at the Swedish Hospital in Englewood, Colo. He was born Oct. 5, 1972, in Durango, Colo., the son of Joe Paul and Anna Marie Lucero.

Larry graduated from Pagosa Springs High School as a member of the class of 1991. Following graduation, he attended Fort Lewis College for one year and then decided that college wasn’t for him.

He came back to Pagosa Springs and started his career at City Market, where he held various management positions. This upcoming May would have been 27 years he worked at City Market.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Joe Paul Lucero; his mother, Anna Marie Lucero; and his grandmother, Genevieve Lucero. He is survived by his only brother, Ruben Paul Lucero.

Larry loved to collect football and baseball cards. He had the most incredible memory. He could memorize all the stats and players from any team in the state, from high school teams to the NFL and NBA. Larry was a loyal fan to the Pagosa Pirates.

We will always remember what a considerate, passionate and genuine person Larry was toward everyone. He had many friends in his lifetime. Larry had a heart of gold and will be missed tremendously!

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 23, with a eulogy being read at 8:45 a.m. at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Church on South Pagosa Boulevard.

A reception will be held at 11 a.m. at the Parish Hall, 462 Lewis St. If you could bring a dish to share, it would be greatly appreciated.

Those attending Larry’s services are encouraged to wear Broncos or Pagosa Pirate attire.
