There is perhaps no time of year when more people are more aligned in heart, mind and spirit than at Christmas.
No matter what your religious beliefs are, this is a time for family and friends, giving, fellowship and kindness toward your fellow man.
With the spirit of Christmas in the air, we invited local leaders to share their Christmas wishes for the community.
Greg Schulte, board president for the Upper San Juan Health Service District, the body that oversees and stewards Pagosa Springs Medical Center, shared his wish: “On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Pagosa Springs Medical Center, our Christmas Wish for the community is good health! We wish you all good health so that you may enjoy family and friends and all the wonderful things our area has to offer! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
“I wish that everyone’s dreams come true” is Pagosa Fire Protection District Board President John Thompson’s short and simple Christmas wish for our community.
Pagosa Springs Mayor Don Volger shared his Christmas wish: “My Christmas wish is that people in our wonderful community would be blessed with love, joy, peace and kindness this season and throughout the year. God bless.”
Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners Chair Steve Wadley wrote, “I want to see continued prosperity for our county. As I reflect on the events that have transpired in Archuleta county this past year, I think of the tragedies that our community has suffered. I hope 2019 will be free from such events. Pagosa should always be a special place, a vibrant community, with enthusiastic volunteers.”
County Commissioner Ron Maez added, “I wish for unity of all the people to come together as one to work for the future of our community in Archuleta County.”
County Commissioner Michael Whiting wrote, “Mely and I wish everyone a peaceful and joyful season. Feliz Navidad.”
The message of Christmas is one of joy, hope and peace on Earth. There is no denying the spirit of love and hope that spreads throughout the community at this time of year.
We mean it, as everyone does, when we wish you warmly a merry Christmas.
