Five Archuleta County nonprofit organizations that benefit the county’s men, women and children received donations of $500 each from the Mountain View Homemakers during their annual Day of Thanksgiving luncheon meeting, held Nov. 8 at the Community United Methodist Church.
Cathy Ashford, charity chair, presented a donation to Justice Ministries, represented by Liz Alley; Kathy Pfister, board member, presented a club donation to Loaves and Fishes of Archuleta County, represented by Gwen Bartley; Chris Pike, Cares and Concerns chair, congratulated donation recipient Rise Above Violence and its representative, Diane Davis; Joyce Ryan, co-president, presented a Thingamajig Theater Company donation to Laura Moore; and Jane Baker, treasurer, congratulated donation recipient Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County and its representatives and Tom Zilhaver and Larry Jelinek. Each recipient gave a short overview of their nonprofit’s purpose and how the funds were to be used.
Funds for these donations were raised throughout the year from the club’s activities and donation recipients were selected by a membership vote at the September meeting. Mountain View Homemakers is thankful for the many contributions of our county’s nonprofit organizations and the generosity of our communities.
Mountain View Homemakers meets monthly at the Community United Methodist Church to enjoy lunch and fellowship, as well as a short program. There are no monthly dues and members bring a potluck item to share. Call Tozi Rubin at 731-3360 for additional information.
