If holiday shopping is on your to-do list this Thanksgiving weekend, you don’t want to miss the third annual Art for the Animals (AFTA) event Saturday at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association (PLPOA) clubhouse from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

AFTA is an artisan collaboration hosted by the Pagosa Springs Arts Council for the benefit of the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs and features the works and wares of nearly 20 local artists, artisans, craftsmen, gourmet bakers and chocolatiers. This is a wonderful opportunity to do some quality gift shopping for friends and loved ones and support our local animal shelter at the same time.

This festive holiday event is free to enter, family-friendly, and will feature many local artists and artisans.

The Humane Society will have a variety of ready-to-give gift baskets for sale along with coffees. If shopping makes you thirsty, you can visit the beverage bar and choose from a variety of holiday drinks including cider, eggnog, hot chocolate and freshly brewed coffee. A selection of adult beverages will also be available. Rise Above Violence will be on hand with a free gift-wrapping station to make your gifts ready for holiday giving.

AFTA is a one-stop shop, buy and wrap event for the entire family. With gift ideas galore to choose from, you can plan to shop ‘til you drop and then regroup and relax with a beverage, some gourmet chocolate and baked goods, and the sounds of some wonderful live music.

Mark your calendar and plan on making Art for the Animals an awesome part of your Thanksgiving weekend shopping this Saturday at the PLPOA clubhouse, 230 Port Ave. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and the event runs until 4 p.m., so come when you can.

There’s plenty of easy parking. Shop where you live, find the perfect gifts and support the animal shelter and local artists all at the same time. See you Saturday for a fun and festive holiday event.
