Special to The SUN

The Toys for Tots drive is once again seeking contributions from residents of Archuleta County to ensure a successful 2018 toy drive so that families in need (children ages infant to 17 years) have toys to play with this Christmas season.

Collection boxes have been delivered as of Nov. 15 and are located near the entrance/exit at the following participating business locations: Aspen Springs Bar, City Market, Coyote Moon Bar and Grill, Goodman’s Department Store, Overlook Spa, Pagosa Springs Medical Center, Pagosa Medical Group, Restoration Fellowship Church, Riff Raff Brewing, Terry’s Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply, Walmart, Community United Methodist Church, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and Justice Ministries.

These boxes will be picked up on Dec. 17 for distribution on Dec. 18 at the Catholic Parish Hall, 499 Lewis St. An activity center with adult supervision will be available at the Community United Methodist Church for children while parents are selecting toys. To participate in the Toy for Tots giveaway, parents must preregister by Dec. 14 at one of the following locations: Aspire, Department of Human Services, Head Start, Justice Ministries or San Juan Basin Public Health.

Two special events supporting Toys for Tots will be held. Rosie’s Pizzeria and Santa Claus are holding a special Christmas event for kids on Dec. 11 starting at 5:30 p.m. Join the fun with treats for kids and pictures with Santa Claus by bringing at least one toy to donate at 100 Country Center Drive, Suite C, or call 731-0420 for more information.

Women Helping in Pagosa Springs (WHIPS) is having a special luncheon on Dec. 4 at 11:30 a.m. at the Elkwood Bed and Breakfast located on Easy Street. Contact Nancy Ford at 946-1895 for reservations. Admission is $15 and a toy.

Thank you in advance to the generous people of Archuleta County for making the 102nd Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive another outstanding success.
