Special to The PREVIEW

Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a very special holiday party on Dec. 1 to celebrate a year filled with progress, the completion of our newest home for the Pacheco family and 24 years in service to Archuleta County.

We welcome everyone to join the Habitat for Humanity family for our Home for the Holidays party. The party will be held at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave., on Dec. 1 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Join us as we light the tree and the faces of our partner families and children, our board of directors, donors and volunteers who have given tirelessly to make this a successful endeavor.

There will be horse-drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa Claus, gifts for the kids, crafts and cupcake decorating. There will also be some big giveaways for the grownups, including a flat-screen TV and a five-piece patio set. We will also be serving hot chocolate, cider, baked goods and snacks. So, save the date and spread the word.

For many of us, this is the “most wonderful time of the year.”

For others in Archuleta County and around the globe, it is time to face the cold and the harsh reality that is living in poverty. Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to building homes and building hope. Our local affiliate has built 25 homes since 1994, helping to create a brighter future for more than 80 adults and 120 children through our new homeownership and homeowner repairs programs.

We are now in the final stages of House No. 26. As we count our blessings, we are reminded that we are not one and could not do this alone. We are many and our blessings are to be shared with everyone.

A house is built with walls and beams. A home is built with love and dreams.
