Special to The PREVIEW

If you plan to visit the annual Holiday Bazaar at the high school this Saturday, be sure to stop by the Gifts of the Heart greeting card booth. It will be just inside the door to your left. There will be newly designed Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas cards available alongside many of your old favorites.

The Gifts of the Heart program is sponsored by Community United Methodist Church, but the money that is raised is not for the church. Rather, all proceeds, aside from minimal in-house printing and paper costs, are donated to your choice of five designated local nonprofit groups. All these cards are created by local artists and photographers and are suitable for framing.

When you purchase cards, you may direct your donation to the Methodist Church Food Pantry, the Community Assistance Fund, Vets 4 Vets, Programs for Youth or the Pagosa Springs Senior Center in honor of those people on you gift list.

The cards offered at the booth on Saturday will be primarily for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but there will be a sampling of other cards as well. Gifts of the Heart cards are currently available for 18 unique special occasions and there are generic “any occasion” cards, as well.

When you choose to include these cards in your gift giving, you will be helping provide much-needed programming and support for many people who have a wide range of needs. You can enjoy a special feeling when you select some of these cards rather than always relying on commercial offerings.

In addition to purchasing cards on Saturday, you can buy them all year long at the Methodist Church located at 434 Lewis St. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
