http://www.pagosasun.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/obit-dean-IMG_2993-300x300.jpgWilliam Samuel Dean, 62, of Milagro, N.M., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 in Santa Rosa, N.M., He was born April 28, 1956, in Jonesboro, Ark., to Edgar (Sonny)Dean and Mary Frances Fielder Dean.

He was a graduate of Highland High School in Hardy, Ark., and attended Arkansas State University.

Sam lived in Pagosa Springs for over 25 years and moved to New Mexico four years ago. He was a real estate agent for 40 years.

He also was an avid rodeo and PBR fan in addition to spending time with his children and grandchildren. Sam loved the beauty of Colorado and his family and friends here. He was a huge hunter and would visit Pagosa often. He lived in Milagro on his ranch, where he enjoyed living his dream off the grid being a cowboy.

Sam was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Mary Frances Sparks. Survivors include daughter Carly Dean Trujillo, son-in law Joseph Trujillo, son Cody Dean, son Sky Manikaja and grandchildren Brendan and Taylor Trujillo, all of Colorado. Also surviving are his father Sonny Dean, sisters Mary K Caldwel, Lesa Love, Carrie Mathis (Mike), Julie Kelly (Chris), brother Derek Dean (Blair), and numerous nephews and nieces and cousins.

A private memorial will be held for family. A memorial for friends and anyone who would like to pay respects will be announced.
