Fowler, Colo., resident Peter Kasper passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, in Fowler. He was 68 years of age.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.

Peter was born on Feb. 2, 1950, to Peter and Aldona (Badaukus) Kasper in Chicago Heights, Ill. He spent his childhood in Lowell, Ind., and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1968.

After graduation, Peter received his bachelor’s degree in education from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind.

Peter lived in Delta County for 24 years, where he was a special education teacher at Delta High School. He was a former board member for Colorado River Water Conservation District and a former water commissioner.

On Dec. 31, 2010, Peter married Gwen Brown in Pagosa Springs, Colo. For the past five years, they have resided in Fowler.

Peter enjoyed farming, horseback riding and tractor refurbishing. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.

Peter is survived by his wife, Gwen Kasper, of Fowler; his two sons: Andy (Laurel) Kasper and Josh (Victoria) Kasper, all of Hotchkiss; a sister, Pam (Gene) Schilling, of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

Peter was preceded by his parents and a sister, Pat Bryant.
