Special to The PREVIEW

The Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) is bringing its third Breakfast with Balloons to Pagosa Springs’ ColorFest Saturday morning, Sept. 15, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The GGP park will be cordoned off to provide guests the best views of the hot air balloons’ mass ascension.

Jack Ellis and his high-altitude guitar will provide bluesy background sounds as the balloons rise over the GGP guests’ heads at the amphitheater along the Riverwalk in Centennial Park. In previous years, balloon pilots showed off quite a bit for the crowd, dipping and rising, even splashing in the river.

A fabulous breakfast, prepared by two of Pagosa’s favorite chefs, will be served in the Community Garden Dome. Kathy Keyes is the sweet chef and Cris Powe is the savory chef. Champagne mimosas, or orange juice, will be served again this year. And, yes, GGP members, your mimosas are once again “bottomless.”

Breakfast with Balloons is a major fundraiser for general operations and activities in the botanic park. The Community Garden and Innovation domes’ interiors will be finished in future months. The Education Dome continues to be busy in its second full year of operations. Six school groups have already reserved space in the Ed Dome for the 2017-18 school year.

The GGP is an educational 501(c)3 organization, an Enterprise Zone project and a Colorado agritourism destination. The GGP is a volunteer-driven organization with significant community support. To learn more about the GGP, visit www.pagosagreen.org.

Regular board meetings are the first Wednesday of each month in the Heritage Building Conference Room at 4:30 p.m. Board meetings are always open to the public. The GGP operates through five strategic committees, each of which reports to the board. Committees meet as needed. Your volunteer focus is needed and welcome.
