Special to The PREVIEW

Sept. 11 marks the initial rehearsal for the 2018 Pagosa Springs Choral Society’s community Christmas concert. Pagosans from all around the area will gather in the Pagosa Springs High School music room to begin preparations for this year’s Christmas concert series, which will be presented at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, and at 4 p.m. on Dec. 2.

Once again, we are pleased to welcome Dan Burch, music director at Pagosa Springs High School, as our director and Venita Burch as our accompanist.

All members of the community are welcome to come and participate in the choir. A $20 fee will be assessed each choir member to assist in defraying the cost of music.

Registration for choir participation will begin at 6 p.m. at the high school with rehearsal following from 7 to 8:30 p.m. With the exception of Thanksgiving week, rehearsals will continue every Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. until the concerts.

Musical selections will include “Come, Messiah King,” “Christmas Is the Best Time of the Year” and “Behold That Star.” A select jazz ensemble will be chosen by audition from the choir membership and will perform two additional selections as part of the concert series.

Members of the community are encouraged to come and sing with the choir with a special invitation going out to those who have previously sung at these very special Christmas concerts. If you’ve sung with the choir in the past, but have taken a few years off, perhaps it is time to consider being involved once again. Come and help us to demonstrate to the Pagosa Springs community what real harmony sounds and looks like.
