Special to The PREVIEW

The Pagosa Springs Community Band will begin rehearsing for its fall concert on Monday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m, in the Pagosa Springs High School band room.

Registration will begin at 6 p.m. and music will be distributed. We request a $15 registration fee to help with music and operating costs. If that fee presents a problem for any individual, the register clerk can help.

We are looking forward to seeing our returning members and we hope to see a lot of new musicians.

The Community Band consists of a number of adult musicians and a few selected student players. Our adults range from retired and active music educators to folks who used to be in the band and wanted to start playing again. So, if that clarinet or trombone in your storage room is calling your name, get it out, dust it off and show up at our first rehearsal. We have musicians in our band that have not played for many years and they are having a blast.

Our first three rehearsals will be on Monday nights, Sept. 10, 17 and 24. On Sept. 30, we will go to Sunday afternoons, including Oct. 7, 14 and 21. There will be a dress rehearsal on Oct. 26. Our fall concert will be presented on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. All Sunday afternoon rehearsals will go from 2 to 4 p.m., and Monday nights will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

So, returning band members, start practicing, and, new prospects, you start practicing, too. Our conductors Larry Elginer and Malinda Burnett will have a terrific program selected for us.
