A warrior for Christ!

Blair was born in Nashville, Tenn., on July 1, 1947, and peacefully passed away at the Pagosa Springs Medical Center in the presence of his immediate family and close friends by his side. He went to be with Jesus on Aug. 22 at 10:45 a.m. Blair and his wife, Barbara, attended Pagosa Bible Church and Blair was a great witness for Jesus, a true “Fisher of Men.”

Blair served in the U.S. Army, fought on the front lines in Vietnam and is a decorated war hero who was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He loved the Lord, his family, his country, his church the great outdoors (fishing and hiking) and Colorado. Later in life, he worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Van Nuys, Calif., until retirement in 2004, when he moved Pagosa Springs with his wife, Barbara.

Blair is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Jo Ball; son Kevin Ball and wife Karen; grandson Kevin Michael Ball; granddaughter Alisha Cargill; stepson Michael Rudd and his wife, Breck; stepdaughter Patty Van de Linder and husband Bill; brother Steve Ball and wife Marilyn; brother Mike Ball and wife Phyllis; and sister Brenda Mathews.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Jordan and Dr. Fedai and staff at the Pagosa Springs Medical Center for their love, compassion and care of our beloved Blair.

We want to invite family and friends to join us to celebrate his life at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.M., on Sept. 7 at 12:45 p.m. for a memorial service with military honors.

All donations will go the Wounded Warrior Fund in the memory of G. Blair Ball Jr.
