Young girls in Pagosa Springs have one final opportunity to become a member of the Pagosa Springs Girls Choir for the 2018-2019 school year.
A welcome meeting for interested girls will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. in the band room at Pagosa Springs Middle School.
An enrollment packet is available on the website, www.singpagosa.org, or by emailing Director Linda Parker at singpagosa@gmail.com. Interested girls will need to bring the enrollment form and a $10 fee to the meeting. The packet includes all information about the choir and membership requirements.
The meeting will consist of placing each girl on an appropriate voice part and answering any questions the girls/parents have about the choir.
Girls in the choir spend much of their time learning vocal and choral techniques. However, they also learn about stage presence and musicianship. Girls learn and sing music of all genres and some of their music includes props and choreography. They will also be singing their own concert at Christmastime and next spring.
Community concerts are favorites for the girls and they often sing for several local organizations throughout the school year. In addition, they travel during the summer each year to experience live performances of music and art genres. The choir is under the direction of Parker and the accompanist is Gwen Taylor.
