Drought management plan outlined, special meeting scheduled for May 1

The above graph shows precipitation data over the course of a year gathered from the Natural Resources Conservation Service SNOTEL Site Upper San Juan Number 840. This site is located near the top of Wolf Creek Pass, just this side of the Continental Divide. The below graph illustrates the snow water equivalent, or amount of moisture in the snow, at the same site. Both graphs begin with October on the left side of the bottom axis.

With dry conditions persisting around Pagosa Springs, a course of action for the summer, as well as a possible drought management plan, were discussed by the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) board at its regular meeting on April 19.
