San Juan Outdoor Club to meet

On Thursday, Feb. 1, the San Juan Outdoor Club will hold its meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the PLPOA Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave.

The guest speaker will be Brandon Caley, and the program is titled “Connecting People, Places and Stories in the San Juan National Forest.”

Caley has been with the Forest Service since 2006 and spent a great deal of time working in the Chugach National Forest and Tongass National Forest in Alaska before he came down to the San Juan National Forest. Since October 2013, he has been actively involved with visitor services, interpretation and conservation education on the Pagosa Ranger District. In 2016, he was named the Rocky Mountain Region Gifford Pinchot Interpreter and Conservation Educator of the Year.
