Special to The PREVIEW

In “Comfort and Joy,” Kristin Hannah, a New York Times best selling author, writes a holiday story about Joy Candelaria, a high school librarian who states that Christmas at one time was her favorite holiday.

However, as a recent divorcee, she desires to get away from her hometown of Bakersfield, Calif., during the holidays. At the local airport, she buys a ticket for a charter flight to the Pacific Northwest. However, the plane crashes in the Olympic rainforest. Joy and her fellow passengers walk away from the wrecked plane as it explodes. At this point, Joy makes the decision to continue on her adventure and leave her ordinary life behind.

This month’s meeting of the Literary Ladies will be held at Marilyn’s home on Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss Hanna’s book and enjoy our traditional holiday potluck. For further information on the location, check with Brad at the library.
