The district has received notification of a reported school shooting in Aztec, NM. The administration of Archuleta School District 50 JT is assuring the public that safeguards against such a tragedy are in place in our local schools.

“We have no reason to believe that there is any threat to students in our district at this time. Every school has been notified, and staff are operating on heightened awareness,” according to ASD Superintendent Linda Reed. We want to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Aztec community.

“The district has a comprehensive safety plan and is very diligent in keeping our students safe,” Reed said.

The state has established an anonymous tip line, (Safe2Tell) for school safety. Students and community members are encouraged to call at the tip line any time with any concerns potentially impacting student and staff safety. (877) 542-7233.
