Piedra substation to be de-energized midnight Nov. 17, affecting 3,698 customers
To complete necessary maintenance in a safe and efficient manner at one of its three substations in Archuleta County, La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) has scheduled a planned outage overnight, early Thursday morning Nov. 17.
The Piedra substation, which serves 3,698 LPEA member-customers in the north-central part of Archuleta County will be de-energized at 12:01 a.m. Equipment upgrades are expected to take approximately two hours.
“We want to make sure our equipment is in good shape before we go into winter, so we can avoid some weather-related outages,” said Justin Talbot, LPEA manager of operations. “We scheduled the planned outage overnight so we hopefully don’t impact too many of our members. We want to make sure everyone is aware, because your alarms may not be accurate on Thursday morning when you intend to get up for work.”
LPEA members scheduled to be affected by the planned outage are receiving phone calls from the cooperative, providing LPEA has current phone numbers. Because LPEA’s outage management system does use its reverse calling system to alert members of planned outages or significant issues, members are urged to update their phone number(s) by calling 247-5786 or access their account information online via SmartHub at www.lpea.coop.
